• This medication is a gastrointestinal stimulant and antinauseant, prescribed for heartburn and esophagitis due to GERD and for treating patients who have gastroparesis (partial paralysis of the stomach) and prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy.

Troxipide's mucosal protective effect in gastric ulcer and gastritis is exerted via the inhibition of inflammatory responses and neutrophil-mediated mucosal injury. As neutrophils are thought to be involved in the pathogenesis of H. pylori-mediated mucosal injury

For use as a preoperative antimuscarinic to reduce salivary, tracheobronchial, and pharyngeal secretions, to reduce the volume and free acidity of gastric secretions and to block cardiac vagal inhibitory reflexes during induction of anesthesia and intubation.

Glycolate inhibits the action of acetylcholine on structures innervated by postganglionic cholinergic nerves and on smooth muscles that respond to acetylcholine but lack cholinergic innervation. These peripheral cholinergic receptors are present in the autonomic effector cells of smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, the sinoatrial node, the atrioventricular node, exocrine glands and, to a limited degree, in the autonomic ganglia. Thus, it diminishes the volume and free acidity of gastric secretions and controls excessive pharyngeal, tracheal, and bronchial secretions.

Aciloc is used to treat and prevuent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It also treats diseases in which the stomach produces too mch acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Aciloc is also used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions in which acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn.
Aciloc belongs to a class of drugs called H2 receptor antagonists. It acts by blocking the action of chemical called histamine on proteins called H2 receptors in the stomach and intestine which are involved in producing acid thereby decreasing acid formation.
